Weston Friendly Society of the Performing Arts is excited to announce a highly anticipated addition to our Friendly Kids of Weston children's theater programming --Friendly Kids of Weston: The Play Lab -- a new 8 week workshop designed for Weston 4th & 5th graders to explore creativity, connection, and confidence through the art of storytelling and performance.
Led by our Friendly Kids Executive Director, Meghan Rose, participants will collaborate to create and perform an original play inspired by their own voices and experiences.
Rehearsals will go beyond memorizing lines or blocking scenes. Students will learn the foundations of acting -- voice, body, imagination, and presence -- while developing essential life skills:
Confidence in their unique voices
Emotional intelligence through exploring feelings and perspectives
Risk-taking and creativity in a safe, supportive environment
Collaboration and respect as we build a story together
The program will culminate in a final performance where families and friends are invited to celebrate the students’ hard work and creativity. The piece they share will be entirely their own; an original reflection of the group’s ideas, discoveries, and growth.
This pilot program is not only about creating a play, but about empowering kids to discover who they are, how they connect to others, and how they can shine with courage and authenticity — on stage and beyond.
The Play Lab is made possible by Weston Friendly Society with the support of Weston Public Schools.
REGISTRATION starts February 26, 2026. The program will take place in April 7 through June 4 at Weston Field School.
