The countdown to next year's 125th anniversary has begun and in anticipation of what promises to be extremely exciting for you, we're pleased to announce our 124th season! It is through you, our annual subscribers, and your generous support that we exist today. Our sincerest thanks go out to you for your support as we remain; "…the second oldest community theater in the United States!"
Just recently, The Weston Friendly Society was featured in the Images of America series, Greater Boston Community Theater book by J.L.Pierce, who wrotes: “The Weston Friendly Society has put the word ‘community’ into its community theater by producing theatrical events to raise money for local charities.” It is your annual tax-deductible contribution that fosters this giving and allows this to happen each year. On behalf of last year’s charitable recipients, Women of Means, Cub Scout Troop 222, and the Condakes and John Barclay Memorial Scholarship Funds, we thank you.
We are thrilled with our upcoming season. In November, we will feature Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with lyrics by Tim Rice. This Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable which will feature an on-stage children’s chorus. John Peter of the Sunday Times wrote, "The best kind of feel-good show, unashamed, warm-hearted and irresistible."
Next spring, the rousing Once upon a Mattress will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its 1959 Broadway debut. If you thought you knew the story of The Princess and The Pea, you may be in for a walloping surprise! Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again. This production is great fun for the entire family. As Michael Portantiere of Theatermania wrote, this show is "a hilariously nutty retelling of the beloved fairy tale The Princess and The Pea. The show itself is a musical comedy gem. Mattress is a masterpiece of its kind"!
We are well aware of the strain our current economy has placed on charitable giving this year. However, we hope that you will continue to provide your most generous financial support. Your charitable dollars have most recently financed our newly enhanced sound system for your listening pleasure! In addition, giving this year will guarantee even more spectacular entertainment for our upcoming 125th anniversary season.

If you are looking to give back in other ways, we warmly encourage you to join our volunteer corps! If you would like to join us, please complete the contact form below and return it to us at your earliest convenience. Some of these jobs don’t require a lot of time — just a strong desire to join in your community with a guarantee to meet new & interesting people!
We look forward to seeing you at this season’s award-winning productions and as always, on behalf of all of us here at The Weston Friendly, we say "Thanks!"
